E' figlia di un pastore cristiano e si è laureata alla Kyung Hee University nel febbraio 2005. E' stata il più giovane membro della pop band Fin.K.L..
Dopo che il gruppo Fin.K.L si è sciolto, lei ha abbandonato la musica per dedicarsi alla carriera d'attrice.
La sua prima apparizione in televisione è stata nella miniserie "Bad Girls" che le ha fatto vincere un riconoscimento come "Best New Actress". Ai suoi esordi come carriera d'attrice ha affiancato anche quella di modella per i cataloghi di diverse aziende. Nel 2006 ha ottenuto due ruoli principali nei drama One Fine Day e Snow Queen, con i quali ha ottenuto altri importanti riconoscimenti.
Nel 2008 ha recitato nel drama Hong Gil Dong al fianco di Ji Hwan Kang.
